Swami Agnivesh calls on Geelani
‘We are neither against people of India nor any religion’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, May 17: Noted social activist Swami Agnivesh Tuesday called on the Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani here.
“The conscious masses of India should help Kashmiris and raise their voice against the brutalities inflicted on the people here. We are neither against the people of India nor any religion. We are fighting for our legitimate birthright,” a spokesman of amalgam quoted Geelani as having told Agnivesh.
“Kashmir is the most militarized zone in the world and nothing is secure in the presence of forces. Killers of 118 youth are roaming free and even they were rewarded with promotions and awards. But youth who participated in peaceful protests are still languishing in jails. The forces and police are not in favour of peace as they are taking advantage of this uncertainty. The forces are getting different allowances and looting green gold, while police is extorting money,” Geelani said.
Geelani, while hailing anti-corruption campaign of Agnivesh, said that he should also raise his voice against the oppression of Kashmiris.
“Government of India should leave its stubbornness and allow Kashmiris to decide their fate,” he said.
Geelani also condemned the arrests of his driver Parvez Ahmed.
