Agnivesh statement: A matter of concern

This refers to the statement by social activist Swami Agnivesh that Delhi is running the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir and the state government has no say in any matter. One fails to understand why Delhi is undermining the authority of an elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. Or in other words why it he state government allowing its authority to be undermined at the hands of New Delhi? During the last year’s unrest Delhi took the affairs of Kashmir in its hands and even issued statements on governance and curfews. That gave a clear cut signal that the state government had no say in any matter related to the state. If Agnivesh’s statement is a reality, it should be a matter of concern for those who claim to represent Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir is enjoying special status under Article 370. But even this Article has been slowly diluted. Coalition compulsions should not make the state succumb all the time.
