India not serious to resolve K-issue: JKLF (R)
Srinagar, May 19: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) chief patron and executive director Kashmir Centre, Brussels, Barrister Abdul Majid Tramboo, on Thursday claimed that the Government of India was not serious to resolve Kashmir issue.
Tramboo, according to a Front statement, said If New Delhi really wanted to resolve Kashmir it should immediately release all the incarcerated innocent youth and pro-freedom leaders. “Besides, it should also revoke AFSPA and hold judicial probe into the killing of 174 youth during the last two years,” he said.
“Several prime ministers in their public addresses at various occasions since 1947 announced that Kashmir issue would be resolved. The Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru had made announcements in the UNO and in and outside the parliament that Kashmir issue would be resolved in accordance with the views and wishes of Kashmiris by giving them their right of self-determination,” said Tramboo, adding instead of resolving the issue the Congress government “pursued the policy of dividing people of Kashmir in groups.” “Now the time has come when the issue should be resolved by involving the real representatives of Kashmiris in the process of talks started between India and Pakistan.”
Tramboo alleged that some Indian political leaders were putting a spanner in the talks by declaring Kashmir as an internal issue. “This speaks volumes of their policy of double standards,” he said.
Tramboo condemned the alleged harassment of Front activists.
