Mughal Gardens

This refers to the international seminar on Mughal gardens in the University of Kashmir. Preserving our gardens and heritage is the need of the hour. The condition of heritage sites in Kashmir is very bad. The state government needs to give adequate attention to the issue rather than declaring more heritage sites as so-called state protected. There have been large scale encroachments on heritage properties in the state because the state government has failed to preserve them. Only holding seminars and exhibitions is not going to solve the problem. It will help create awareness about importance, but on ground it is the state government which has to act in preserving the heritage sites. The government must rope in some good Non-Governmental Organizations and seek their help in creating awareness about heritage in far-flung areas where there are many heritage sites. It is better to act now so that we are able to save these assets for future.
