Kangan residents demand ATM
SHEIKH NAZIR
Kangan, May 22: Residents of this tehsil appealed chairman J&K Bank for installing second Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in Kangan market.
The residents said the only teller machine of the J&K Bank in the market “is insufficient to cater to the large number of traders and common people in the area.”
“There is only one ATM in the tehsil that is working only for few hours during the day,” said Umar Rashid, a teacher.
“The ATM being on the Srinagar-Leh highway, it witnesses huge rush every day and customers have to wait in long queues for long durations to get their turn to conduct transaction on the machine,” they said.
They said another ATM by the Bank will give relief to the locals, tourists and others,” said Ghulam Hassan, a trader.
The residents said they had already approached the local branch manager, who according to them has advised them to raise the issue with higher authorities of the bank.
“We appeal the chairman JK Bank to provide for another ATM in the area as it would not only help its customers, but also generate more business for the bank,” they said.
