Cable Car Corp earns Rs 4 cr in 45 days

Srinagar, May 24: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that every effort is being made to promote tourism, adding that tourism industry is all set to witness boom this season in Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by the Minister during his visit to Gulmarg, where he took stock of the activities of Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation.
The Minister said a parallel chair lift from Kongdoori to Merishoulder would be made operational from September this year, which would give a fresh impetus to tourism activities at world famous Gulmarg tourist resort. “Particularly the adventure lovers will find another fascination, he added.
Jora said that construction of kongdoori chair lift, with a capacity of 1,000 persons per hour is apace at a cost of Rs. 18 crore and is expected to be completed by September this year. He asked the concerned authorities to redouble their efforts for providing improved facilities and hospitality to the visiting toursits.
Managing Director, State Cable Car Corporation, Talat Parvaiz, apprised the Minister that the Corporation has earned a revenue of Rs. 3.82 crore by Gondola riding at Gulmarg during last one and a half month this fiscal. He said the Corporation has fixed a revenue target of Rs. 14.82 crore during current financial year by utilizing its assets for tourism activities.
