Kashmir Nursing Home revival by June 15

Srinagar, May 24: Kashmir Nursing Home at Gupkar here will start proper functioning from 15th June and will initially provide the services of Gynae and Paediatrics.
This information was given by the Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma, during his visit to this century old institution here today.
Greater Kashmir had reported Tuesday about the underutilization of the hospital.
After detailed inspection of the institution, the Minister directed the Director Health Services, Kashmir to take all necessary measures to revive the institution as per its capacity and utilize the services of different faculty so that people can avail the facilities at their doorsteps. He said that Government will restore the pristine glory of this prestigious institution and super specialists from across the country will give their services free of cost to the patients, he maintained.
The Minister asked for formulation of a proposal for renovation of the building and residential quarters of the doctors at the earliest. He also directed for posting the doctors and para-medics as per the sanctioned strength to ensure quality medicare to the people.
The Minister was briefed by the Director Health Services, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, that Nursing Home has two fully equipped operation theatres, Labour Room and facilities of modern clinical laboratory, USG, X-ray with a bedding capacity of over 50 with independent rooms for the patients. He said that presently the institution is providing only OPD facility by the super specialists. He said that the institution was transferred to the health department only in 2003 and it could not start functioning due to various reasons.
