Militant killed, 2 hurt in encounter

Poonch, May 24: An LeT commander was killed and two of his associates injured during an encounter with forces in Poonch district, officials said here today.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of 18 Rashtriya Rifles and police raided Soni-top forests in Baflaiz-Dera-ki-Gali belt last night. On seeing the forces, the militants fired at them and in the retaliatory action one militant was killed and two others were injured, Defence PRO S N Acharya said.
The slain militant has been identified as LeT district commander Nazir Ali alias Abu Omar of Pakistan and his injured associates have been identified as Zuber and Chota Foji alias Iko 4, he said, adding that the search operation was on.
