Our leadership has always proved immature
This refers to the article titled 'I have a question' by Shah Sarjan (GK 21st May).
While as the participation by youth in sports and other such activities is debatable, the remarks by the author regarding the pro-freedom leadership touched me because they refuse to unite for the cause. We all must take a leaf out of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly the wisdom he exhibited while executing the treaty of Hudebyia, the final push which resulted in the glory of the our faith. In contrast, having travelled from rags to riches, establishing themselves internationally, the separatist leadership is competing with each other in showing the concern for diminishing female- male sex ratio as depicted by the latest census. While for us all it is, no doubt, worrying but for separatists it is a clamp down from the high pedestal of aazadi. On a holistic view of previous census operations one would find innumerable discrepancies particularly in the population composition of Kashmir vis-à-vis Jammu on the basis of which the Jammuites are laying a claim for more assembly seats. Our so-called leadership, knowingly or unknowingly, is falling prey to such issues. The biggest flaw in their approach is that this goes contrary our struggle for political emancipation. Otherwise an average Kashmiri is better that an average Indian in economic terms. Is it not ironical that the very child who has been worst victim for last more than 22 years has become the subject of debate in a different context? Alas we have always been deceived by leaders, be it 1931, 1938, 1947, 1953, 1964, 1975, 1994 , 1996 and now. As such my answer to the author’s question is 'mourn'
