Authorities clueless over Ramban mishap toll

Body Fished Out From Chenab

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, May 26: Even as police today fished out a body from Chenab river, authorities continue to remain clueless over the exact toll in a mishap along Jammu-Srinagar highway in which a car plunged into the river at Sera Ramban on Wednesday evening.

Police had earlier claimed that four persons were travelling in the ill-fated car (JK02AJ-3472) which was on way from Jammu to Srinagar. However, police today retracted from its statement saying only two persons were travelling in the car.

The SSP Ramban, Anil Mangotra, said that the rescue teams of police recovered a body around from the river today. He identified the deceased as Muhammed Saleem of Satwari.

“The exact number of persons travelling in the car is not yet clear. However, the name of another person has surfaced today, indicating that only two persons were travelling in the car at the time of accident. We are making every effort to trace the body,” the SSP said.
