Governor for planned revival,promotion of cultural heritage

Srinagar, May 26: The Governor, NN Vohra on Thursday said state’s cultural heritage needs to be “effectively revived, preserved and showcased”.
An official handout said : “Interacting with a delegation of the Jammu Kashmir Film Makers And Artists Cooperative Ltd. (JKFMAC), Srinagar, which called on him at Raj Bhavan here, the Governor stressed the need for all required steps being taken, within a well considered time-bound plan, to promote performing arts through the involvement of all available local talent.”
In this context, the Governor observed that organizations like JKFMAC can play a crucial role for the promotion of art and culture.
The possibility of construction of an appropriate size auditorium at Srinagar for organizing round the year cultural activities was also discussed during the meeting.
The delegation informed the Governor that with a view to revive and promote rich cultural heritage of the State, the JKFMAC has decided to organize cultural festivals at various places in the Kashmir Valley and, to begin with, they are organizing a 10-day Theatre Festival at SKICC, Srinagar from 25th June to 4th July, 2011.
The deputation comprised President, JKFMAC, Ayash Arif, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General, Shabbir Hyder, Secretary, . Parvez Malik and Treasurer, Mushtaq Wani.
