Govt approves mobility plan for Sgr, Jammu

Srinagar, May 26:  The state cabinet Thursday approved preparation of Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar by M/S RITES Ltd.

The cabinet which met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah accorded approval to the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Planning Department with M/S RITES in this regard.

The signing of MoU would pave the way for M/S RITES to take up detailed study and furnish the report on CMP to the State Government within a set time frame.

Pertinently, M/S RITES had made a power-point presentation about the feasibility study vis-à-vis CMP before the Chief Minister on May 4, 2011 at New Delhi.

The cabinet also approved the terms and conditions and other operational details/fee structure as finalized by the committee of officers constituted vide cabinet decision No. 191-16/2010 dated 26-08-2010.

In another decision the cabinet approved use of 1.06 hectares of forest land for  construction of Storage Tank at Dardpora-B in Kehmil Forest Division by Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Division, Handwara.

It also approved use of 1.03 hectares of forest land for construction of storage tank at Sajan Sar Dardpora in Kehmil Forest Division, Karalpora by Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Division, Handwara.

It also approved use of 3 hectares of plantation area of Social Forestry Department under VWL Aghar-I Aghar-II, Pai-III, Karwa and Bhaga Strip Plantations along Katra-Reasi Road (RD Km 0-13) by GREF.

 In another decision, The Cabinet also gave approval to creation of Electric Maintenance and Rural Electrification (EM&RE) Division at District Headquarter Kupwara comprising electric sub division Kupwara, Trehgam and Tangdhar (Karnah).

It also confirmed creation of 16 posts for the newly created EM&RE Division of Kupwara, which include one post each of Executive Engineer, Draftsman, AAO, Senior Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Junior Assistant, Revenue Examiner, Driver, two posts each of Assistant Engineer and Orderly Cum Chowkidars besides four posts of Junior Engineers.

The cabinet confirmed the appointment of Muhammad Ashraf Mir, the then Additional Secretary, Law Department as Secretary Legislative Council on deputation without prejudice to the seniority of other members of the service.

The Cabinet ordered posting of Dr RK Jerath, as Director General, IMPA, with effect from May 31, when the post falls vacant on the superannuation of Abdul Hamid Allaqaband.

The post of DG, IMPA has been declared equivalent to the IAS Cadre post of Principal Secretary in terms of Rule 9 (1) of IAS pay rules, 1954, so long as it is held by Dr RK Jerath.

Jerath, then Principal Secretary Health, was attached with the General Administration Department (GAD) in March this year for allegedly “humiliating” a BJP MLA.
