Govt to rope pvt players in tech edu

Srinagar, May 26: Minister for Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports R S Chib has said the government would encourage private players to set up institutions of technical education to spur vocational programmes in J&K.
The Minister was addressing 15th Board Meeting of J&K State Board of Technical education here today.
Chib, according to an official statement, said the government has already adopted Public-Private Partnership mode to promote technical education in the state for which the Union Government provide financial assistance to the stake-holder.
He said the government would open 50 ITIs in far-off and hilly areas and 142 Skill Development Centres in all the blocks of the state to popularize technical education among the youth and achieving the set target of imparting technical education by 2022 under Integrated Skill Development Mission.
The process of setting up 18 new Polytechnics is going on in all the uncovered districts of the state under ‘Integrated Skill Development Mission, he said, adding that the Centre is providing Rs 12.30 crore for each polytechnic.
The Minister said the JKSBOTE would be equipped with additional manpower and machinery to streamline the working and enhancing the efficiency of Board.
The Board also held threadbare discussion on up-gradation of the posts of Secretary JKSBOTE, sanction to the creation and change of nomenclature of some posts, delegation of powers to the Secretary SBOTE for disposal of cases of the candidates who have missed more than one chance, conduct of examination of Industrial Training Institutes and appointment of chartered Accountant, besides confirmation of minutes of 14th Board meeting.
Among others, Commissioner Secretary, Technical Education B A Runiyal, Director, Technical Education Sourab Bhagat, Director, Planning & Development Department S S Jamwal, Secretary, J&K State Board of Technical Education B R Verma, Special Secretary, Finance Mustaq Siddiqi, Joint Development Commissioner, Works I A Hamal, Head of the Department, NITTR, Chandigarh K M Rastogi, besides Principals and HoDs of various Polytechnics and Department were present in the meeting.
