Woman killed, 7 hurt in road mishaps
Srinagar, May 26: A woman was killed and seven others including two members of election staff and two policemen were injured in separate road accidents across the Valley.
A woman was killed and two others wounded when a car (JK01H-6621) they were travelling in collided with an electric pole near sub- district hospital Bijbehara, Islamabad (Anantnag) on Wednesday night, police said adding the deceased had been identified as Gul Afrooza wife of Muhammad Sultan Khan of Solina, Srinagar.
Police said Afoorza’s husband and 18-year-old daughter Farhana Jan was wounded in the mishap.
A bus (JK01D-8801) ferrying employees on election duty and going from Dangerpora Sopore to Wasoora Sopore turned turtle near new Colony Dangerpora Baramulla injuring Muhammad Rafiq Khawaha (Assistant Planning Officer Horticulture, Baramulla) son of Habibullah of Uri, Peer Me’raj-ud-Din (Teacher H S Kalantra Payeen Baramulla) son of Peer Muhammad Yousuf of Kachwa Muqam, Constable Suresh Kumar No. 795/IRP 7th Bn. and constable Ashok Kumar No. 445/ IRP 7th Bn and some CRPF personnel.
A passenger Muhammad Ibrahim Mir son of Abdul Rashid of Warnoo Lolab, who was traveling in a vehicle (JK01K-5087) fell down from it at Rainawari chowk here, police said adding Muhammad Ibrahim suffered grievous injuries in the incident.
LABOURER ELECTROCUTED IN KULGAM
A labourer was electrocuted while working in Railway tunnel at Qazigund, Kulgam.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat, 47, son of Abdul Aziz of Mathigund Qazigund.
