Kishtwar observes strike against Shah’s arrest
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, May 27: Amid sporadic peaceful demonstrations, Kishtwar today observed a complete shutdown against the arrest of J&K Democratic Freedom Party chief, Shabir Ahmad Shah.
All the shops and business establishments remained closed, while the party activists burnt tyres on roads disrupting vehicular movement.
Shah was scheduled to visit Kishtwar on two days visit and was to address public gatherings. However, on way to Kishtwar, Shah was arrested at Thatri on Thursday evening and taken to some unknown destination, party spokesman said.
He said Shah was not allowed to proceed towards Kishtwar for some unknown reasons which created resentment among his supporters.
A call for shutdown was given by his supporters, late last evening, asking people to protest against the “undemocratic and unjustified action of the police.”
