12th phase of Panchayat polls today
Jammu, May 28: Polling in the 12th phase of ongoing Panchayat elections would be held in nine blocks of seven districts on Sunday.
Nine blocks, include Baramulla of Barmulla district, Kakapora of Pulwama district, Achabal of Islamabad (Anantnag) district in Kashmir division, Paddar and Nagseni of Kishtwar district, Ghat Doda in Doda district, Gool of Ramban district Mandi and Poonch of Poonch district respectively, officials said.
They said the electorates of nine blocks would decide the fate of 847 candidates, including 839 male and 8 female candidates for 235 Sarpanch constituencies. Eight candidates have already been elected unopposed as Sarpanchs.
A total of 2,967 candidates including 2,097 male and 870 female are in fray for 1783 Panch segments. As many as 492 candidates including 292 male and 200 female have already been elected unopposed for Panch segments, officials added.
