Govt to rope in pvt parties to exploit IT potential in JK

Srinagar, May 28: Minister for Information Technology, Science and Technology Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has said the State has ample potential of IT sector and private players would be engaged to explore it.
 The Minister was speaking at 2nd Annual General Meeting of Information and Communications Technology Association (ICTA) here today.
 The Minister said present era is the age of technology and ICTA is playing vital role in providing vocationalization, economic development and job opportunities. He said the government has taken various measures for boosting IT sector in the state. He said the government has planned to fully implement e-governance for providing better and prompt services to the people of the state, adding that efforts are on to create basic infrastructure to link blocks, tehsils and districts headquarters with the Civil Secretariat.
 Aga Ruhullah said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also keen to encourage IT sector and wished to implement e-governance programme on fast track basis. The Government has planned to establish 1150 Khidmat Centres of which 550 have been set-up so far, the Minister added.
 The ICTA is an association of 30 members used to spur Information Technology and vocational education in the state.
