Indo-Pak to discuss Siachen

New Delhi, May 28: Leading a 6-member delegation for the 12th round of India-Pakistan talks on the long-pending Siachen issue, Pakistan's defence secretary Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Ather Ali arrived here today.
The 2-day-long talks, taking place after a gap of three years, would start on May 30. The Pakistani delegation includes two civilians and four military officers.
The Indian delegation would be led by Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar, other members in the group include Special Secretary R K Mathur, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt General A M Verma and Surveyor General S Subha Rao, Defence Ministry officials said here.
The defence secretary level talks between the two countries on Siachen dates back to 1985. The decision to hold joint talks was taken by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Pakistan President General Zia-ul-Haq.
