‘Wildlife authorities annoy Pashmina exporters at Delhi Airport’

Srinagar, May 29: President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Nazir Ahmad Dar has alleged that Pashmina exporters from Kashmir were being harassed by Wildlife Authorities at Delhi airport.
A KCCI delegation headed by Dar called on Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on Thursday at New Delhi seeking his intervention to “stop harassment of the Pashmina exporters.”
The delegation, Dar told Greater Kashmir over phone, informed the union minister that the Wildlife authorities were taking a lot of time to release the consignments of the Kashmiri Pashmina exporters “on the pretext that their consignments may contain Shahtoosh products.”
Dar said the exporters besides facing huge embarrassment were incurring heavy financial losses due to this “treatment meted out to them by the Wildlife authorities.”
The union minister, according to Dar, assured the delegation that a laboratory which would help differentiate between Shahtoosh and Pashmina shall very soon be set up at the Airport to spare the exporters from the trouble.
