PAC seeks details on PHE schemes executed
Srinagar, May 30: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Legislative Assembly today sought a comprehensive report from PHE department, giving year wise details of fund released, expenditure incurred, status of tenders and reasons for drawing excess payment for 2008-09 and 2009-2010 financial years in Kashmir Division.
This, according to an official statement, was decided at a meeting of the Committee, chaired by Mir Saifullah here. The meeting was convened to examine and discuss the audit paras pertaining to PHE department.
In today’s meeting, the Committee expressed dissatisfaction over the reply submitted by the department and decided to seek appropriate documents to go into the issue whole hog.
Legislators, Professor Chaman Lal Gupta, Muhammad Sharief Niaz, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Basharat Bukhari and Jagdesh Raj Spolia gave their valuable suggestions for the settlement of audit paras. They desired to carry out on-the-spot inspection to have more familiarity about their execution.
Among others, Principal Accountant General, J&K Venkatesh Mohan, Commissioner/Secretary, PHE Mehboob Iqbal, Director General, Accounts and Treasuries Wali Muhammad Bhat, Chief Engineer, PHE Kashmir Ghulam Rasool Zargar and other senior concerned officers of Assembly Secretariat and PHE department attended the meeting.
