COLLEGE STUDENT STABBED OVER ALTERCATION WITH GIRLS

SAMAAN LATEEF

Srinagar, May 3: In a unique incident, two sisters on Monday evening allegedly stabbed a college student after an altercation on phone.
Hashim Tariq, 22, a B Com final year student of Islamia College was attacked by two sisters and their male friends at Jawahar Nagar. The accused sisters are daughters of a top police official, sources said. According to police a case of attempt to murder case has been registered.
Tariq, who is admitted in SMHS hospital, has received injuries on throat, abdomen and head.
The wounded said: “His friend was receiving threat calls from (accused) elder sister’s boyfriend.”
“Her boyfriend was thinking that she was in relation with my friend. Though my friend and the elder sister were good friends there was no love story at all.”
“On Sunday evening, we tried to settle down the differences. After everything was over, the elder sister called me,” Tariq said adding that the meeting matured at Jawahir Nagar.
“However, without any provocation she hurled abuses and hit me on head. Her boyfriend also hit me very badly,” Tariq added.
He said: “One of the girls hit me on my head and I fell down on the ground.”
Later, the wounded man called his friend, who took him to police station Raj Bagh to register FIR.
After registering the case, he was rushed to hospital as he was bleeding profusely from abdomen, a police official said.
When contacted SHO, Raj Bagh, Farooq Hussain said a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) had been registered.
“Investigations are going and it seems a childish activity… We called the elder sister to police station. She told me that Hashim Tariq had hurled abuses and given threat calls to her on phone,” Hussain quoting the girl said.
The SHO however ruled out any blackmailing from the Tariq’s side.
A senior doctor pleading anonymity said injured was stable.
“He has been operated upon and is improving. He has been hit in the abdomen and part of his large intestine was damaged. There are injuries on head and throat also,” he said.
