List quashed
This refers to the news “High Court quashes selection list of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons.” It is a landmark judgment passed by the High Court and is a serious blow to the credibility of the State Public Service Commission, which has already in the line of fire for making illegal recruitments. The power of judiciary cannot be undermined in any democratic set up. And here the High Court has delivered justice to the petitioners, who made it a point to highlight the irregularities in the selection of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons. The PSC must set its system right and ensure that the appointments are done on the basis of merit rather than political interference. It would be a great idea to have retired judges as PSC members rather than retired bureaucrats. That is the only thing which can set the system right. Let the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah intervene.
