Osama killing a mystery: Salahuddin

TARIQ NAQASH

Muzaffarabad, May 4: United Jihad Council (UJC) chief Syed Salahuddin on Wednesday cast aspersions at the high profile killing of Osama bin Laden, saying there were many “reasons and apprehensions” to doubt the occurrence.
“Killing an internationally acclaimed as well as hunted person in a so called rapid action spanning few hours in the dead of night, conducting his DNA test and burying it in sea after Saudi Arabia’s refusal to accept it is not only a bizarre drama but also a mysterious and calculated conspiracy,” Salahuddin, who is also the supreme commander of UJC’s largest constituent- Hizbul Mujahideen- said in a statement.
He maintained that even if the claims by the US about “martyrdom of Osama” were accepted as true, nobody could deny the fact that “Osama was no more the name of an individual but of a thought and ideology which could not be eradicated with the martyrdom of an individual.”
New Delhi, which has long been blaming Islamabad for fostering militant groups to launch attacks on Indian soil, especially in Kashmir, seized on the killing of Osama deep inside Pakistan on Monday, saying it showed once again that its long-standing rival remained a haven for militants.
But Salahuddin warned that denial of rights of “oppressed and subjugated Muslims” could spur them to carry on struggle through whatever possible means.
“Until the imperialist powers give up anti-Islam and anti-Muslim policies every oppressed and subjugated Muslim will continue to turn into Osama,” Salahuddin said, stressing that “every imperialist power should vacate Muslim territories under their occupation, particularly the US should quit Iraq and Afghanistan, Israel should quit Palestine and India should quit Kashmir.”
“They should stop atrocities on unarmed Muslim populations and restore and respect the rights of Muslims.”
The guerrilla leader called upon Muslim rulers to take care of their tormented subjects instead of resorting to “servile obedience of their foreign masters.”
“Instead of making efforts to perpetuate their rule, they should adopt vigorous policies and take practical steps to revive the honour and freedom of Muslims.”
