FCIK upset
Srinagar, May 5: The Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir today expressed its dismay over the new VAT return form introduced in the State.
At a meeting here today, president FCIK Afaq Qadiri took up the issue with Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department requesting the latter to use his good offices in getting the new form withdrawn or deferred for at least one year. Qadiri said the new form was being “thrust upon the tax payers under the pretext of computerization.”
“While introducing the new format, the department has increased its volume from a simple two page form to a complicated and cumbersome seven page document,” he said. “As per the new procedure an assessee is required to maintain at least five additional registers,” he said, adding that it would require every trader to hire regular services of a qualified accountant to fill up the form.
