Woman killed, 2 injured in mishaps
Srinagar, May 5: A woman was killed and two others wounded in separate mishaps in Valley.
According to police spokesman, Fatima Begum, 75, widow of Abdul Ahad Shah of Takiya Batpora Kunzer was hit and critically wounded by a car (chassis number 1-AB/1968) near Takiya Batpora, Baramulla. Fatima was shifted to sub-district hospital Kunzer wherein she succumbed to her wounds, police said adding a case had been registered. Police said the vehicle was driven allegedly by Captain Ayappa of 71 Armed Regiment Haryana son of Late Lt. Col. M. K Poraiya of Kurd Karnataka and was on way from Srinagar to Gulmarg when the incident happened.
In another incident, a sumo (JK01G-6063) hit a motorcycle (chassis number 46398) at Sangam Islamabad (Anantnag) causing injuries to rider Tanveer Ahmad Mir son of Farooq Ahmad of Chakoora Pulwama, police said.
A truck (JK02AQ-6709) collided with a car (JK01K-3659) near Nundresh Colony, Bemina injuring Muhammad Shafi Dar son of Abdul Ahad of Lassipora Lolab at present Hyderpora, police added.
QUARRY LABOURER DIES
A labourer was killed when he came under a boulder in a stone quarry at Brakpora, Islamabad (Anantnag).
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Ama Dar of Kulgarh Check Achabal.
GIRL ENDS LIFE
A 20-year-old girl of Padder Gund Handwara committed suicide allegedly by consuming some poisonous substance at her home, police said.
