Dalai Lama to visit Jammu on Nov 16
Jammu, Nov 9: Spiritual Buddhist leader, Dalai Lama is visiting Jammu on November 16, an official communiqué said.
According to it, on reaching Jammu, Dalai Lama will visit Kala Kendra to witness an exhibition on Buddhist remains found at village Ambaran in Akhnoor. Besides visiting Ambaran village, he will address public meeting at Akhnoor.
In view of the ensuing visit of Dalai Lama to Akhnoor and Jammu, Director Tourism, R S Mehta convened a meeting with the representatives of Travel, Trade and Hotel Associations to discuss the necessary arrangements.
The Director asked the Association representatives to put up banners, hoarding and advertisements welcoming the dignitary at prominent places.
The representatives of the associations requested the director to give full publicity to the visit of the noble laureate through electronic and print media so that the Buddhist site becomes one of the main attractions for tourists visiting the State. The representatives assured that they will synergize with the department in making the event a grand success.
The meeting was attended by Ravi Mahajan, Chairman, Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal, Kuldeep Wani, Senior Vice-President, Jammu Hotel Restaurant and Bar Association, Inderjet Khajuria, President, All Jammu Hotel & Lodges Association and General Secretary of Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal and Baldev Khullar, President, Jammu Heritage Society.
