Defunct streetlights haunt tourist hub
Srinagar, Nov 12: People of tourist hub of Dalgate are up in arms against the authorities for failing to repair the streetlights in the area despite passing of nearly five months.
A delegation from the area said that the ornamental streetlights were installed
in the tourist hub last year. They said the streetlights developed a technical snag five months ago causing immense inconvenience to the pedestrians including tourists during evenings.
“In absence of the streetlights, many pedestrians have suffered injuries as walking through the dark street dotted with uneven surface and open manholes, is difficult and risky,” they said.
The residents said they had apprised the concerned authorities about the problem. However, the request met with deaf ears. "We appeal the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to impress upon the concerned authorities to restore the street lights at the earliest,” they said.
