JKFA conducts referees’ course
3 GIRLS AMONG 10 REFEREES PARTICIPATE
Srinagar, Nov 12: The basic football referees course organised by J&K Football Association concluded at Polo ground here recently.
In the course organised after a gap of several years 10 young referees from all over the State including three girls participated. The course was held from October 31 to November 7.
The participants were imparted basic training of refereeing by national level referee Nazir Ahmad and other qualified referees.
A JKFA spokesperson said, “We had only invited young participants who were below 25 years of age. The idea was to boost our depleting referee strength and we are lucky to have got 10 young talented referees in our kitty.”
He said that the most exciting part of the course was that it involved three girl participants.
“During registration we were surprised to see applications from girls and it is new altogether new beginning in the area of football in our State. During course the trainers were impressed by the dedication and hard work of the girls,” he said.
The JKFA spokesperson said they would use the girl referees in girls matches.
The 10 basic course pass out referees would undergo through another course after a couple of months and then among them the participants both boys and girls would be shot listed to represent State in All India Competition for referees.
