PHC Hazratbal goes 24X7

Srinagar, Nov 12: Primary Health Centre, Hazratbal on Saturday became a 24X7 facility with Minister for Medical Education, Dr RS Chib dedicating it to the people. The PHC is run by the Department of Social & Preventive Medicine, Government Medical College, Srinagar.
The Minister of State for Health, Javid Ahmad Dar, MLA Hazratbal, Dr Mustafa Kamal, Principal Medical College, Srinagar, Dr Qazi Masood, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Saleem Rehman, HoD Social and Preventive Medicine, Dr Safoora Bilques, Dr Salim Khan and other members of medical fraternity were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has initiated a massive programme for “creating health infrastructure throughout the state particularly in far flung areas and is striving that benefits of these services should reach at the grass root level.”
“The medical colleges of the state are being upgraded to the AIIMS level so that better patient care facilities are provided to the people,” he added.
In his address the MoS Javed Dar said: “Under flagship programme of national rural health mission, the centre will be provided adequate support.”
The GMC Principal Dr Qazi Masood urged the government to “provide adequate support for workforce augmentation” while emphasizing the importance of PHC Hazratbal especially “during Urs and Fridays when thousands of devotees visit the shrine and are provided medicare by PHC Hazratbal.”
Welcoming the guests, Dr Sufoora Bilques, HOD SPM, stressed upon the government to provide more workforce for the upgradation of the PHC to Community Health Centre level while Chib responded saying the matter would be seriously looked into on priority basis.
