‘Centre to fund upgradation of power infrastructure in JK’

Jammu, Nov 14: Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan has said that Centre has agreed to provide funds to the State government for upgradation of power scenario in the State under Restructure Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (R-APDRP), adding under the programme electric infrastructure would be upgraded in all the villages and notified areas with population more than 4000 souls.
This, according to an official statement, was stated by the Minister while reviewing overall power scenario of the State at a high level meeting held here today. He directed PDD authorities to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for Centre funding under this scheme so that necessary upgradation works could be taken up well in time in all the regions of the State.
Shabir reiterated that development of power sector in the State is priority of the government for which several measures have been taken to upgrade the power infrastructure besides providing hassle free power supply to the consumers of the State. He instructed concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of all ongoing projects and directed collection of power tariffs on regular basis besides urgent nature of repair and renovation of power infrastructure.
The Minister while reviewing pace of progress of several ongoing projects being executed under Centre and State schemes directed concerned to ensure use of quality material for making concrete infrastructure. He instructed the concerned authorities to make frequent visits at developmental sites to avoid loop-holes in installing technical equipments.
The meeting also reviewed physical and financial achievements of Rajouri-Poonch districts under the sector and it was told that requisite funds would be provided for completion of under execution works.
