Release wages of casual labourers, regularize adhocees: Tarigami

Jammu, Nov 14: CPI (M) state secretary and MLA, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has asked the government to release wages of the need based workers and casual labourers of various government departments forthwith.
In a statement, Tarigami said, this hapless lot had been put to tremendous hardships despite toiling hard in pressing circumstances.
Voicing concern over the plight of these labourers, Tarigami regretted that even auspicious days of Diwali, Eid-ul-Azha and Gurupurab meant nothing to these people as they were not able to feed their families for non release of their pending wages.
“It was irony of sorts that these workers are not being paid even minimum wages.” He demanded safeguarding their service interests besides timely release of their remunerations.
Tarigami called for regularization of all those daily wagers and casual laborers, who have completed seven years of service in PDD and other engineering departments as per the norms in vogue, adding that administrative apathy towards their genuine issues was against the canons of justice and fair play.
Tarigami also called for speeding up regularization process of adhoc and contractual employees. He said it was a cruel joke with these youngsters, who have put in now about 10 years service in different departments following their adjustment against clear vacancies. Tarigami asked the government to dispense with ‘red tapeism’ and official wrangling vis-à-vis the files of adhocees and contractual lecturers.
