Elections to Block Development Councils soon: Govt

Islamabad, Nov 15: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar today said that the elections to the Block Development Councils would held soon.
 Addressing a gathering of Sarpanchs and Panchs here, the Minister reiterated Government’s commitment for ensuring effective decentralization of powers by formulating three-tier set up of local governance. 
 On the occasion, the Minister asked the officials of various departments to implement the order relating to the devolution of powers to the Panchs and Sarpanchs in letter and spirit. “Any deviation on this account would be taken very seriously. Action would be initiated against the officer who does not pay proper consideration to it,” Sagar said.
