‘Three series system, single paper pattern unjust’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 1: The students and parents have sharply reacted to the statement of Jammu Kashmir Plus Two Lecturers’ Forum in which it had supported the ‘defective’ three series system and single paper pattern introduced by the Board of School Education for classes 10th and 12th in the state, terming it sheer manifestation lack of understanding.
“Both teachers and students have termed the three series system as unjust and discriminatory by putting forth genuine arguments which need not any repetition. Simply, it amounts to measuring students’ talent and potential with discriminatory rods. One student is given the simplest paper while other the most difficult. Isn’t this discrimination? The Forum should know that only microscopic percentage of students participate in competitive examinations at national level while the majority of them prefer, for one or another reason, study in the state. So this single paper system may hone the examination skills of microscopic percentage of students but it puts extra and unnecessary burden on majority of average students,” said a student Shamima Akhtar while talking to Greater Kashmir.
A parent Ghulam Rasool Khan termed the three series system and single paper pattern a deep conspiracy to put a spanner in education of poor and average students. “The government wants to make education of classes and not for masses,” he said.
“The Forum has tried to be more loyal than the king by expressing satisfaction over arrangements made by the BOSE for the conduct of examinations, ignoring media reports on the mismanagement and lack of arrangements at examination centres and also the complaints of students. It has vainly tried to give a clean chit to BOSE authorities for just getting petty monetary benefits. Forum office-bearers have been provided vehicles and assigned the job of inspection. This pecuniary benefit has made its office-bearers shower all praise on BOSE authorities as if they have done something extra ordinary,” said Malik Ghulam Hassan, a plus two teacher, adding that the trade unionism has ruined the department in all respects. “These unionists heap all praise on every officer who toes their line and does their all good and bad works without showing any hesitancy. Today we see interference of self-fish trade union leaders in every matter in all offices of the education department. This undue interference has created administrative chaos and indiscipline in all institutions. Today every conscientious teacher and employees in the department wants to get rid of the menace of trade unionism.”
