Vajr Cup Football tourney concludes

Srinagar, Nov 1: An intra-district football tournament organised by the ‘Vajr Division’ of Army at Panzgam from September 25 concluded on Tuesday.
The competition was organised to provide an opportunity to the local youth to participate in sporting events and inculcate a spirit of competitiveness amongst them. 10 teams of Kupwara district participated in the tournament, a defence handout said.
The final match was played Tuesday at Panzgam amidst a huge gathering of locals, civil, administrative and senior army officials. In a closely contested match, Langate team beat Kupwara team by four goals. The winning and runner up teams were given prizes. The tournament gained immense popularity amongst the locals, especially the youth who turned out in large numbers to cheer their respective teams, a defence spokesman said.
