Religious organizations, students seek exams postponement

Srinagar, Nov 22: Various religious organizations and student community of Kashmir have appealed the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Prof (Dr) Talat Ahmad and heads of other education institutions to postpone ongoing examinations ensuing the Holy month of Muharram particularly from 6th Muharram to 12th Muharram.
Prominent organizations like Jammu and Kashmir Itehad-ul-Muslimeen, Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharian Shain (H) , Jammu and Kashmir Shia Youth Forum, Anjuman-e-Sharain Shian (M) Ayatollah Yousuf Memoral Trust and Education Trust of Kashmir in their separate handouts appealed the examination holding bodies to look into the matter and provide relief to the students so that the exams don’t clash with Muharram events.
The students who attend Muharram congregations said they wouldn’t be able to attend to their studies and demanded postponement of their exams.
Meanwhile, Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (AS) Khadmatgar Committee Khanqah-e-Sokhtaq in Shahr-e-Khaas has also appealed to the KU, JKBOSE and private educational institutions to postpone ongoing examinations during Muharram. They also appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to declare Gazetted holiday on 11th Muharram
