JKSCCC clarifies

Srinagar, Nov 23: The J&K State Cable Car Corporation Limited has clarified that the matter regarding import of DG sets in the 2004 was investigated by Vigilance Organisation and was dropped immediately after thorough probe.
In a statement JKSCCC said, after scrutiny of all the relevant records and circumstances nothing was found adverse.
Responding to the news report "JKSCCC dock for purchase of genset at exorbitant rates” carried by this newspaper, it said,
“The JKSCCC was in need of a power back up system as it was losing heavy revenue during power break-downs. The Corporation decided to arrange a separate DG set as per the requirement for operation of Section-1 of Gulmarg Gondola Project and, accordingly, tenders were floated at State as well at National level for design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a DG set that could suffice the needs of Gulmarg Gondola Project. The response against the tender notice was found unsatisfactory as none of the firms could provide a solution to tackle the regenerative power component that gets generated due to operation of the Cable Car System. The repeated tender notices published did not yield an\ fruitful result and ultimately the matter was placed before the Board of Directors of the Corporation for engagement of a Consultant who could set the design parameters of this DG set. The Board of Directors decided to contact the Original Equipment Manufacturer of Gulmarg Gondola Project i.e. M/S Pomagalski of France for design and supply of the required DG set and hence the DG set of appropriate specifications was procured from M/S Pomagalski in the year 2004 as per designed parameters for use in the Cable Car and is functioning very satisfactorily since then. After commissioning of the Section-11 of Gulmarg Gondola Project in the year 2005 the Corporation purchased another DG set as per designed parameters for it and that too is functioning quite satisfactorily since then. This DG set was procured indigenously but of the same make as that of first one i.e. Catterpillar make.
The three DG sets supplied and installed by M/S Besi & Crompton could not be put to use due to non-availability of spares at the lime and due to very high operational costs. These three DG sets and the infrastructure for power supply system is still tinder the possession of the Power Development Department.”
