Sonawar Park construction abandoned

Unfortunately, the work on the proposed Park behind Cantonment Shopping Complex Sonwar Bagh has been stopped for many months now. The Cantonment Board of BB Cantt last year levelled the open land behind Cantonment Shopping Complex but the work was later halted for reasons best known to the Board authorities.
The open land is now being used by drug addicts and it has become safe heavens for them. The Cantonment Board had started the work after repeated requests from all the adjoining Mohallah Committees like Palpora, Sonwar, Upper Sonwar and Indira Nagar.
It needs a mention that we the residents of these areas don’t have any park or playfield for our children. They used to go the Ram Munshi Bagh adjoining playground but as the VIPs are putting up in the area, the said ground is out of bonds for us.
Our children roam around on holidays to find space for co-curricular activities. If the park is established, the children will have ample space to play and it will also help locals to arrange marriage parties etc because otherwise we have to block the lanes and by-lanes for such arrangements.
We, the residents of Sonwar request the Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board, BB Cant to kindly take up the remaining work on the proposed park and also construct a community hall.
