Education deptt to constitute special squads
BAN ON PRIVATE TUITION
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Nov 26: A day after the Divisional Bench of state High Court imposed ban on private tuition by government teachers, the Directorate of School Education has decided to constitute special squads.
“We will strictly enforce the High Court ruling. We plan to constitute special squads to keep a close check on any kind of violations. The department will initiate strict action against any teachers if he or she is found to be defying the court directions,” Director School Education, G A Qureshi told Greater Kashmir.
He said the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) and Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) will be asked to conduct checks in their respective jurisdiction and take feedback from locals regarding any violation of the ruling.
On Saturday, the Court had set aside the order of Education Department under Circular No. EDU-PS/C/S/11 dated August 11, 2005 whereby general permission to the officials of the department was granted to engage themselves by way of self employment or accepting part-time employment in private coaching centers two hours before opening and two hours after closing of the schools.
The court banned the private tuition in response to a Public Interest Litigation filed by Vichar Kranti International and others seeking complete ban on private tutoring by the Government teachers both gazetted and non-gazetted.
