‘OVER HUNDRED TECHNOCRATS JOIN PDP’

Jammu, Nov 26: Reiterating resolve of his party to aggressively pursue the agenda of peace and equitable development to change the system, former Chief Minister and Democratic Party (PDP) patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Saturday said that development of all regions and sub-regions and upliftment of all sections of the society was agenda of his party.
Mufti was addressing a meeting of technocrats who joined PDP in his presence here today. “Impressed by the policies and programmes of the party, more than a hundred technocrats- majority of them working in telecom and allied sectors today joined PDP and expressed faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti,” a spokesperson of the PDP, said.
While welcoming the new entrants, Mufti said, “Attaining power is not aim of our party. Our agenda is to restore peace in this region by addressing aspirations of all sections of the society.”
Mufti claimed that PDP’s policies were formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the state. “We want to change the present system and to create new system where there would be no injustice with any section of the society”, he said, adding, “Justice and equality with all is the slogan of the party”,
Highlighting policies of the party, he said PDP has been propagating the policy of peace and reconciliation and it was all due to these policies that peace was restored all along the border in the State. Mufti said that stand taken by PDP for restoring peace in the State has been endorsed by the successive governments in New Delhi.
“It was result of the PDP’s policy of peace and reconciliation that a number of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) were initiated during the period of PDP-Congress coalition regime which ultimately created an atmosphere of peace and normalcy in the State,” the former CM, said.
Highlighting the achievements of the previous PDP-Congress regime, Mufti said that during the tenure of previous regime more than 80,000 teachers were appointed and similar number of Anganwari workers were also engaged in transparent manner.
“We not only recruited people in transparent manner but also institutionalized the whole recruitment process so as to recruit only genuine and deserving people”, he reminded.
While responding to the demand of youth, Mufti said that PDP has been demanding that locals should be given priority in employment in private sector. He assured that party would effectively take up this issue.
Speaking on the occasion, Vivek Khajuria, one of the technocrats said that it was result of the visionary policies of PDP that they have decided to join the party which has a vision for younger generation.
