Govt targets 100% literacy in JK: Mir
‘EDUCATION IS REAL PILLAR OF DEVELOPMENT’
Tangmarg, Nov 28: Describing advancement in the education sector as the real pillar of development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir, the Minister for Agriculture,. Ghulam Hassan Mir today said the Government is working to achieve 100 percent literacy target in the State.
Mir said that the target has been fixed under centrally sponsored schemes SSA and RMSA . The Minister stated this while addressing a public gathering after inaugurating recently upgraded High School at Hardu Madam and Sikh Kanihama villages here.
“Education is the only way by which any nation can make development and can fight against the exploitation and suppression,” Mir said.
Mir appealed to the teacher fraternity to teach the student community professionally. “The teacher community can be the role models of the student fraternity. I stress upon them to exploit the inner talent of the new generation so that they can compete with others at the high level competitions.”
The Minister said that there is no any dearth of resources in the State. “But we have not exploited those resources fully yet. I urge the new generation to work with more hard work and play their role in making the future of the nation,”
Referring to the accommodation problem of the new high school, the Minister said that both school buildings will be constructed in the March next year, for which Rs. 1.16 crore has been earmarked.
