PML-N constitutes shadow cabinet

Muzaffarabad, Nov 28: Setting a new tradition in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK), PML-N PaK chapter’s chief organizer Raja Farooq Haider has constituted a shadow cabinet in the Legislative Assembly.
 Haider who is also leader of the opposition in the assembly said the step was aimed at checking the performance of the present setup on the one hand and ensuring an aggressive and worthwhile role on the part of opposition in accordance with the expectation of the masses.
 He said he had directed the members of the shadow cabinet to keep a vigilant eye on alleged corruption and unlawful orders and actions of ministers to make sure that taxpayers’ money was spent on the welfare of general public and not for the appeasement of any particular party.
 Members of shadow cabinet and their portfolios are: Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, communications and works, finance, planning & development, development authorities, Chaudhry Yasin Gulshan, education (schools), tourism, sports and culture, Raja Naseer Ahmed Khan, local government and rural development, Dr Najeeb Naqi, education (colleges), health, information technology, Barrister Iftikhar Gillani, electricity, environment, hydroelectric board, youth affairs, city development, Raja Mohammad Siddique, forests, Azad Kashmir Logging and Sawmills Corporation, Chaudhry Mohammad Ismail, rehabilitation, refugee affairs, transport, prisons, civil defence, Syed Shaukat Ali Shah, food, auqaf, Zakat and Ushar, religious affairs, Chaudhry Mohammad Ishaque, revenue, agriculture and animal husbandry, Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain Sargala, law, parliamentary affairs and human rights and Dr Fauzia Ashraf, social welfare and women development.
 The PML-N has 12 lawmakers in the currently 48-member Legislative Assembly. Though still the 5-member Muslim Conference is also sitting on the opposition benches, but it has voted for the ruling Peoples Party candidates from the day one of present assembly’s inception under a largely questioned policy of reconciliation. The PP-PaK has 29 members and MQM, which is part of the government, has.
 Meanwhile, Haider  has also summoned a meeting of PML-N parliamentary party in his chamber in the assembly building on Monday, a day before the commencement of LA session.
