Ellen Convent emerge champions, beat Hanfiya Institute
U-15 COCA COLA FOOTBALL TOURNEY CONCLUDES
Srinagar, Nov 2: The Ellen Convent School Chanapora emerged as champions of the U-15 Coca Cola Inter-School football tournament defeating Hanfiya Institute by 2-0 in a final played at Polo Ground here on Wednesday.
In the match Ellen Convent dominated the proceedings from the word go and went on to score two goals in first half. Waris Amin scored the first goal while Safdar Rashid scored second. At half time score was 2-0 in favour of Ellen Convent. In second half no goal was scored and Ellen Convent went on to win match by 2-0.
MLA Hazratbal and member J&K State Sports Council Dr Mustafa Kamaal was chief guest on the occasion while Executive Director, Zonal head central JK Bank, Bashir Ahmad Lone was guest of honour. They distributed prizes among the winners.
Among others present on the occasion were Deputy-director DYSS Neelofar Amin,
JK Bank sports board secretary, Muhammad Amin Khan and JK bank talent search head Showkat Khanyari.
The event was organised by J&K Football Association (JKFA) on the instructions of All India Football Federation (AIFF) and in it 32 schools teams from all over Srinagar district participated. It is first time that JKFA organised such an event in which only school teams participated.
“We are delighted to see the event coming to conclusion. It was our dream to start junior events and this one was in that direction” JKFA spokesperson said.
“Our aim is to make basic structure of the football strong and for that the school and junior level contests are must. In past we were not organising because of being short of money that still remain but due to guidelines from AIFF we had to kick start it” he said.
About competition level and talent he said, “The talent, competition level, discipline shown by boys was great. They have encouraged us to organise more such events in future.”
