Amending CrPC, RPC can prove detrimental: Hakim Yaseen
Srinagar, Nov 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Democratic Front president and MLA Khan Sahab, Budgam, Hakim Muhammad Yaseen on Tuesday said the amendment in RPC or CrPC would be detrimental to the JK’s special status. “The “AFSPA removal could not be a substitute for amendment in RPC or CrPC. For, AFSPA is a temporary and short term law while any amendment in any section of CrPC would provide a legal justification to army to operate permanently in the state when the fact remains that situation goes on changing invariably. And voices are raised from all sides that AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act should be withdrawn,” Hakim Yaseen said while addressing a meeting of PDF leaders and members here.
Hakim Yaseen alleged that some political parties had since 1947, intentionally and unintentionally, made amendments in the state laws thereby damaging its unity and status and making Kashmir issue more complicated. “In fact these parties did it to divert the attention from real issues,” he said.
Hakim said the prevailing situation demanded that all the political parties should review all the amended state laws that came in the way of resolving Kashmir issue and take effective steps for restoring 1953 position to it (state). “To achieve this purpose, a bill should formally be tabled in the state assembly for the restoration of the state’s lost special status,” he said.
