In a statement, the clinic’s management said: “This is a new concept in modern healthcare having all super-specialists under one roof.”
It said the concept involves examining patient and deciding on the appropriate treatment.
“The team comprises of medical oncologist, a surgi¬cal oncologist (Cancer Surgeon), a radiologist (specialising in breast ultrasound), and a pathologist.”
The team is headed by Prof Shad Salim Akhtar, and, included, among others, Dr Javed Ahmed, a cancer surgeon, and Dr Khalida Salim, a radiologist. "This is an important step forward towards improving the quality of care of patients in Kashmir who have breast complaints. It is also the first time that such a com¬bined clinic has ever been held. The feedback from our patients was very encour¬aging, and we are looking forward to having regular clinics in the future,” Dr Shad Salim said.
The clinic will be working on Fridays at the Centre.
