Police arrest Hajeej owner
Srinagar, Nov 4: Police arrested owner of private Hajj operator Hajeej India Pvt Ltd from Mumbai airport on Thursday evening, a local news agency KNS reported on Friday.
“A police team led by SHO Khanyar had left for Mumbai immediately after hundreds of Hajj aspirants had alleged that Hajeej India had cheated them,” the news agency said.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Me’raj Ahmad Kakroo said that owner of the firm has been brought to Srinagar and investigations are on. “We have formed an enquiry committee headed by Additional DC Srinagar, Muhammad Akbar Ganie to investigate the case,” he said. “We have directions from the higher ups to complete the investigation soon and make sure that Hajj aspirants whose money has been swindled by the tour operator is returned to them,” he added.
“I’ve started investigations and asked the people who have been cheated to come with their complaints before November 15,” the ADC said.
Police have registered an FIR No 58/2011 against Hajeej India Pvt Ltd under section 420, 406 in Police Station Khanyar. (KNS)
