Geelani under house arrest since Sep 5: Hurriyat (G)
Srinagar, Nov 6: Hurriyat Conference (G) has expressed serious concern over the continuous house detention of its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
“Geelani Sahib has been under house arrest since September 5. He has not been allowed to even offer congregational Friday prayers since then,” the Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar told Greater Kashmir.
He said that Geelani had decided that he would offer Eid prayers at Hazratbal. “Authorities seem to be in no mood to lift the cordon around his Hyderpora residence. Not allowing Geelani Sahib to discharge his religious obligations is direct interference in our religious affairs. We condemn it and urge international organizations to take a serious note of it,” Akbar added.
