Resolve K-issue: Mirwaiz to India, Pak
Offers Eid prayers at Jamia Masjid
Srinagar, Nov 7: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday once again urged India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir issue amicably.
Addressing a Eid congregation at historic Jamia Masjid here, Mirwaiz stressed on the need for a lasting solution to the long-standing dispute.
Asserting that time was ripe for India and Pakistan to listen to the voices of the people and end the political deadlock on the issue, Mirwaiz said: “We want a solution to the Kashmir issue. We want a solution that takes into account the views and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The time has come for the governments of India and Pakistan to make a new beginning and formulate a way to resolve the crisis in Kashmir in a friendly and amicable manner, keeping in mind the wishes and hopes of the people.”
Mirwaiz also condemned the use of force in Jammu and Kashmir. “Today, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, I want to say that the voices and the will of the masses cannot be suppressed through the use of force or might,” he said.
“We do not want your relief packages. We do not want monetary packages, jobs or subsidies, all we need is an opportunity to live our lives with dignity and self-respect,” Mirwaiz said.
