SHAHR-E-KHAAS CRICKET TOURNEY
Srinagar, Sep 30: In the ongoing Under-14 Shahr-e-Khaas Cricket Tournament organised by AICURD league matches were played at Kashmir University ground here on Friday.
At Ground-A, Green Land Nigeen defeated Green Land Educational Institute Hawal by 10 wickets. Sarwar was adjudged as man of the match.
At Ground-B, Standard High School Hawal defeated CMP High School Khanyar. Dilbar was adjudged as man of the match.
The man of the match trophies were given by Director Information Kh. Farooq Renzushah who was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh. Renzushah highlighted the importance of the sports for the overall development of the youth. He said sports channelize energy of the youth towards positive direction and efforts should be made to promote different sports in the Valley. He said during the past some years various inter-State and national level sports events are taking place in valley which has inspired several budding players to take part in the sports activities.
Appreciating the efforts of the organizers for holding this tournament, the Director Information said that lot of talent is available in the Valley youth which needs to be nurtured properly.
He laid stress on exploring possibilities to motivate more and more youth from the Shehar-i-Khas, which has great potential in cricket and football games. Shehar-i-Khas always remained centre of attraction of different sports activities in past and brought laurel in different sports activities. He stressed for organizing sports camps in different areas to find the hidden talent of budding players so that they can be nurtured for national competitions.
Kh. Renzushah also interacted with the players and distributed prizes among the winning teams.
