Shalimar Bagh fountains defunct: Minister

Srinagar, Sep 30: Minister for Floriculture, Sham Lal Friday admitted that some of the fountains at Shalimar garden are defunct.
An official handout said: “The water supply to the fountains in the gardens has not been discontinued and most of the fountains are working properly except for a few, which are not functioning presently.”
Lal said it in reply to a question raised by MY Taing in the Legislative Council.
The Minister said that the “path leading to the garden pavilion has not been closed.”
“However, for carrying out of the cleaning of the Baradari, it is closed for a few hours on weekly basis to facilitate the cleaning process.”
He said the “restoration of the prominent features of this heritage garden is a continuous process.”
