NC-PDP tussle: Out of tune with somber ground reality

SYED MOHSIN

Srinagar, Oct 9: The ugly spat between NC and PDP is yet another manifestation of the shameful jockeying for power. The Kashmiri people have undergone the worst travails in the last 20 years and, win or lose, have acquired a reputation of a defiant people who waged a defiant struggle. It is sad that the same defiant and proud nation is being showcased across India and the rest of the world as being represented by Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah.
The PDP seem to be running around like headless chicken seeking power, desperate and at any cost. And both the parties resort to politically obscene and vulgar antics, desperate to share the spoils of power with Congress. The PDP for all its moral posturing needs to answer some questions. There is a coalition government in place in the state. And both the coalition parties are responsible for anything good or bad happening in the state. Why is the PDP so muted in their reaction to the Congress? Can Congress as a coalition be absolved and only NC implicated of a crime which is endorsed by both? If PDP showcased its lungpower and fan throwing abilities in the Assembly, why they did not showcase these abilities when the resolution on Afzal Guru was delayed and marred by the farce of a fight between BJP and Congress?
The sad reality is that these so called representatives were both migrants in Delhi when the Kashmiris were waging their struggle and now they have come back and are daubing the whole Kashmiri people with the stigma of unbridled lust for power at any cost. It is time they showed some restraint and understand that thousands have died in the last 20 years and such power seeking antics are really out of tune with the somber realities that exist in Kashmir.
